Trust Center

Working at the intersection of buildings, workplace apps, and people, Comfy takes great pride in upholding best practices in integration and security with your systems and networks. The trust of our customers is our most important asset and one that we work hard to maintain and improve.

Comfy Overview

The Comfy solution includes an app for employees, a console for workplace teams, and world-class professional services to support the Comfy experience every step of the way. Implementation is lightweight and only requires plugging a Comfy Gateway box into your BMS.

How It Works

Comfy's sophisticated solution is non-intrusive and integrates seamlessly with your existing systems. Users request and receive real comfort and control. Comfy is not a placebo! Comfy works great in open spaces, and also helps reduce, not increase ‘temperature battles.’ Comfy works with direct digital control systems of many varieties, including VAV, CAV, FCU, UFAD, VRF, Heat Pumps and more.

1. Comfy requires no major hardware upgrades. The Comfy Gateway plugs into your BMS network, and requires an outbound internet connection.

2. Users make a request to warm or cool their space via the app. This request is sent to the Comfy Cloud. Users do NOT have access to directly change the temperature.

3. The Comfy Gateway reads the request from the cloud, and translates it into a BACnet command to temporarily adjust the setpoint.

BMS and Controls Compatibility

Comfy is compatible with most major BMS vendors. Systems must be BACnet enabled (yes, we are BTL certified) and have the necessary points available for Comfy to read/write (these vary by system type). We use a variety of sequences to produce two key outcomes: Immediate comfort and Comfy Learning. Comfy sequences will always meet the needs of the specific system in place and control vendor, and these commands are only sent to terminal units, not to base building plants. All control sequences are agreed upon with the customer in advance of launch.

Requests in Detail

The immediate response is an adjustment to the setpoint and airflow (depending on system type), which then typically releases after 10 minutes. Over time Comfy aggregates what it has ‘learned’ from the requests and automatically adjusts setpoints (within an agreed upon range) to better match user preferences. Comfy will widen temperature deadbands (to the agreed upon limit) in under utilized spaces and/or where there are no requests. This machine learning response is what helps our customers save energy.

Controls Systems Compatibility

Comfy is compatible with most major building management system vendors. Contact our team of experts to inquire about your system.

"Working with Comfy has been a great experience. Their passion and insight empowers strong relationships and innovation. Just how the Comfy app is changing the way people interact with their workplace, our partnership with Comfy is changing how we work with our partners."

Security

We understand that many of our customers have concerns around IoT and BMS cyber security. Comfy takes security very seriously, and stays updated with the latest best practices to ensure we do not create vulnerabilities in your system.

Comfy Architecture

Comfy is architected to be inherently more secure. All communication between users and their buildings takes place through the Comfy Cloud, which employs multiple layers of isolation, monitoring, and alerting to ensure only authorized users have the ability to impact building operations.

Comfy App

Comfy tests all code for security vulnerabilities and other defects before release, and regularly performs network and application scans for vulnerabilities.

Your Network

Customers access Comfy products over the internet, using industry-standard secure and encrypted connections (TLS 1.0-1.2) using high-grade 2048-bit, SHA-256 certificates.

Comfy Cloud

Comfy is run on Amazon EC2, which has extensive physical and environmental controls, including redundant power supplies, biometric identification before physical access, and other measures to ensure the security and integrity of their systems. We regularly review their ISO27001 and SOC2 reports to ensure that their security measure align with our commitments to our customers.

Comfy Gateway

The Comfy Gateway is a gateway box connected to the BMS network. The software on the Comfy Gateway is configured with the minimum set of software needed to perform its function, reducing exposure to hacks.
